All Souls Day

mom and I walked with the library's float for the All Souls Procession on Sunday night. everyone comes down to Fourth Avenue and walks with memories and little alters for lost loved ones. i enjoyed all the bright colors and masks! we started a new tradition and saw all sorts of people dressed up celebrating the Day of the Dead, which is actually one of the most moving nights in Tucson. Grandma Dorothy -- we love you and thanks for the OCD! mom's camera died out so we borrowed a couple fantastic photos from her friend John . . .

We even made it into the local paper with this one from Greg Bryan at the Arizona Daily Star. You can see more photos at . . . http://community.azstarnet.com/slideshows/flash/index.php?id=2722 (you need to click on the circles to see the photos.) We didn't quite make it for the fire-spinning Flam Chen finale or Calexico at the Rialto, which mom definitely would have stayed up for in her former life!

On the real All Soul's Day on November 2, mom and I stopped in a cemetery to see all the flowers, another new word I picked up.
