Catalina State Park.
Grandma and Gampa got us a tent for Easter. We've actually been contemplating camping for a while, so it seemed like the right time to dive in... : )
We packed up the crew and headed to Catalina State Park. They have bathrooms and showers, so we thought this might be a nice way to eeeeease into camping without too much pain.
The pain came later when we realized how much planning and packing and unpacking and prepping and preparing food it took to make this happen. One night was not nearly enough to enjoy the fruits of our labor so we are thinking about a longer trip.
You can see GG was just relaxing and eating potato chips while Olive and I argued as we took turns pumping up the air mattress.
Dad was amazing (as always!) and remembered to bring a hammer. Genius.
We got things set up just in time to find some water to splash in before the sun went down.
Good night.
Good morning.
In the morning we walked up to see the horses and Olive was mad that we hadn't gone sooner because all the horses were gone on their rides and so we went for a hike instead. Olive's head was down in a pout, arms crossed, and when she stumbled upon a rattlesnake, she screamed and ran back towards us! The snake had a full belly as it crossed the path and seemed to be looking for a nice place to digest his lovely meal. We're glad it wasn't Olive. Or GG.
I'm sure we aged 50 years on this hike.
GPS GG.
A few more snacks before packin' it in...
